Collaborative Roundtable on Social and Environmental Challenges at Luník IX

RESDI, in partnership with our sister organization EDUSOC and the Mayor of Košice-Luník IX, Marcel Šaňa, hosted a roundtable discussion at the Ľ. Podjavorinská Primary School in Luník IX. The event aimed to strengthen partnerships among key stakeholders from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, focusing on addressing socio-economic and environmental challenges in the district with an emphasis on long-term sustainability.

Event Highlights:

  • Purpose of the Roundtable: To showcase our ongoing collaboration with the leadership of Luník IX and explore actionable strategies for sustainable development in the district.
  • Presentations:
    • The IMPULSE project, led by EDUSOC, was introduced as a flagship initiative supporting Roma children through scholarships, mentoring, and tutoring programs to foster education and employability.
    • Our colleague Anton Marcinčin presented the Development Priorities for Luník IX (a work in progress), focusing on socio-economic and environmental solutions, including plans for establishing a social enterprise by 2025.
  • Engagement with Partners: Representatives from TescoSlovenská sporiteľňaAliancia pre sociálnu ekonomiku, and others contributed valuable insights during the discussion.

Key Outcomes: The event provided a platform for defining collaborative opportunities to tackle the pressing social and environmental issues at Luník IX. It reaffirmed the importance of multi-sectoral partnerships to achieve impactful and sustainable solutions.
