RESDI – Roma Environmental Sustainability and Development Initiative
Founded in 2022, RESDI is a civic association dedicated to ensuring that marginalised Roma communities are not left behind in Europe’s green transition. We work at the intersection of research, policy advocacy, and education to empower local governments and communities to pursue pathways of sustainable and inclusive development.
Our Mission
Our mission is to bridge the gap between Roma inclusion and sustainability efforts. We do this by fostering participatory approaches, community-driven social innovation, and equitable access to resources, so that Roma communities can play an active role in shaping a greener and more just future.
Our Work
At RESDI, we collaborate with municipalities and communities to strengthen their capacities for long-term sustainable development. Our work spans four key dimensions:
- Addressing Energy Poverty – Supporting municipalities and households to identify solutions that improve living standards while reducing environmental burdens.
- Innovative Pathways for Green Transition – Co-creating models of local social and solidarity economies that generate employment, build resilience, and promote environmental justice.
- Building Knowledge and Skills – Providing education, research, and training that equip communities and local actors with the tools to participate in sustainable development and seize opportunities of the green economy.
- Strengthening Voice and Representation – Linking local realities with national and European policy-making to ensure Roma perspectives are included in shaping inclusive climate and social policies.
