Marginalised Roma Communities in the Context of the Green Transition:
Energy Poverty at Luník IX. and The Case for New Methodologies and Interdisciplinary Approaches

We’re thrilled to share a remarkable update from RESDI! Our colleague, Jakub Csabay, recently participated in a groundbreaking conference held on June 1-2, 2023, at the Central European University in Vienna. Jakub had the honor of presenting RESDI’s groundbreaking research, which delves into the challenges faced by Marginalized Roma Communities in the Context of the Green Transition, specifically focusing on Energy Poverty at Luník IX.

This impactful conference was meticulously organized by The Romani Studies Program and the Environmental and Social Justice Action Research Group at Central European University, along with the esteemed Roma Program at the FXB Center for Health and Human Rights, Harvard University. It was conducted in cooperation with the Critical Romani Studies Department at Södertörn University and the European Institute for Arts and Culture.

This conference marked the 11th annual Roma conference hosted by the Roma Program, coinciding with the globally celebrated International Roma Day on April 8th. This year, the day also marked the 52nd anniversary of the First World Roma Congress. The conference served as a catalyst to foster vital conversations and research efforts on anti-Roma racism, which is a structural determinant of health inequalities and a health stressor in itself.

Stay Informed and Empowered

At RESDI, we are steadfast in our commitment to improving the lives of marginalized communities. This conference is a testament to our dedication to advancing knowledge and advocating for positive change. Thank you for being part of our mission!
