In collaboration with our sister organization EDUSOC, RESDI hosted a significant meeting with two Roma mayors representing the largest urban and rural Roma administrations in Central Europe: Marcel Šaňa, Mayor of the Košice-Luník IX municipal district, and Florian Giňa, Mayor of the Jarovnice municipality.
Focus of the Meeting: Project IMPULSE
The meeting provided a platform to introduce the key details of the IMPULSE project. This initiative aims to enhance the education of Roma children through a comprehensive program that includes scholarship support, mentorship, and tutoring. IMPULSE strives to bridge the gap between education and the labour market for marginalised Roma youth, fostering their inclusion in vocational and post-secondary education and eventual employment.
Key objectives of the IMPULSE project:
- Support Roma students through their academic journey with tailored mentorship and financial aid.
- Strengthen collaboration between schools, families, and local authorities to create an inclusive education system.
- Build systemic partnerships with enterprises and vocational institutions to ensure sustainable educational and employment outcomes.
The project is already gaining traction as a transformative model for education and inclusion in Slovakia.
RESDI’s Key Role in Public-Private Collaboration
As a leading partner in this initiative, RESDI plays a pivotal role in fostering collaboration with the public sector and leveraging private sector involvement. By advocating for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, RESDI aims to create stronger accountability and resource mobilisation among enterprises. This approach ensures that the IMPULSE project aligns with broader sustainability goals while addressing the specific needs of marginalised Roma communities.
Through this collaboration, RESDI emphasises the importance of creating inclusive and equitable opportunities, reinforcing the value of corporate responsibility and social impact within the regions of Košice and Prešov.
Our Commitment
At RESDI and EDUSOC, we are committed to achieving sustainable development in Luník IX and Jarovnice by focusing on education as a cornerstone for change. By fostering cross-community collaboration, advocating ESG standards, and presenting innovative solutions, we aim to ensure long-term improvements in these pilot locations.
